What is needed to be “Connected”??

I have started development of a new presentation to discuss with people what it means to be “connected” in today’s society.  Some of the things that come to mind are the use of a smartphone, netbook, laptop, and ipad…but I think it needs to be more about the web tools the person uses rather than the technology hardware used.  So, what about Social Bookmarking (Delicious.com, Diigo.com, etc..), Skype, Google Voice, EverNote, Google Docs, Twitter, Google Reader, etc…

What type of “techno stuff” do you use to stay “connected” in today’s society?  Why?

Making Connections

I am always attempting different ways to connect various services I use so there is cross communication.  This post is the first post in which I am posting to my public blog site techmorris.wordpress.com and it is publicizing this post to my private facebook account as well as my public twitter account.  I know..sounds a bit difficult but it is key to have these various tools available to me for communicating with all the great people I do…

And for fun…IT IS FLURRYING OUTSIDE ON DECEMBER 1ST…HOW IRONIC…

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a “micro-blogging” site in which you can updated up to 140 characters at a time. It has been in the news a ton with celebrities, etc. using it as a way to communicate.

I am still attempting to find the educational value in Twitter and how it would be best used. I know of a couple of districts which are using it for Emergency Notifications if you are “following” them. I believe this is a good use, however, what are some others…this is my goal to figure out…

Education Resources

Today I was at Hamburger University which is McDonald’s global training center site…wow…

So the speaker today was Alan November and lead education technology speaker.  He was really speaking about how we educate and how we should be using technology in ways it is used in other countries.  Collaboration, using Google Search properly, Twitter, Ning, etc…

It was one of the best sessions I have been to in a long time.  I plan on changing some of the ways that I teach my Master’s class to model the proper use…

I will be posting more as days come forward.
