On Thursday night we went in for the MRI and Eleanor did very well (no headache) which we were very happy about. After the MRI they asked us to stay in the waiting room while the radiologist contacted the neurologist. After about 10 minutes the neurologist called us and said he saw some things on the MRI which concerned him and that he wanted to admit Eleanor. So, at 10:30 p.m. Thursday night she was admitted to Delnor.
About 11:30 p.m. the rheumatologist arrived and said she would like to have Eleanor transferred to Northwestern in Chicago where we have one of the top lupus research doctors. So, today they processed paperwork and finally at 8 p.m. we took an ambulance from Delnor to Northwestern in Chicago.
They are concerned that on the MRI they saw what looked to be a couple of small strokes which have ocured over the last couple of weeks…at this point the rheumatologist felt Northwestern could help better with diagnosis and treatment.
Currentl it is 11:30 p.m. and I am on the train getting back to Geneva around 1:00 a.m. to go get my vehicle at Delnor. A doctor at Northwestern was already in and did a full exam to report to Dr. Goldman and her fellows which will be working on the case.
The doctor said they would continue the course of treatment during the night and will be meeting in the morning at some point to determine a plan.
Eleanor is in good spirits and we had an enjoyable ride in the ambulance to Chicago.
I personally am exhausted. I have been up during the last several night several times with Eleanor taking medication and not being able to sleep. I taught on Wednesday night and then taught all day today to then arrive at the hospital and then down to Chicago.
El’s parents were with her all day at Delnor and several people have called Eleanor or I to check in. She really likes that and to hear what is going on.
Please keep Eleanor in your prayers that the doctors can find a diagnosis and treatment plan to get us through this. She is in an isolation room because of the shingles she is currently fighting. Visitors are allowed…
Sorry about the rambling with tonight’s post, but there is just a bit to share and I am tired…
